Lia Diskin

Lia Diskin, graduated in Journalism with a specialization in Literary Criticism from the Instituto Superior de Periodismo José Hernandez in Buenos Aires. He studied the Upanixades at the Vedanta Society in Uttar Pradesh, India. He specialized in the philosophers Nagarjuna and Kamala Shila at the Centre for Tibetan Studies of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives in Dharamsala, India. Coordinator of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visits to Brazil. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including: the Award for her contribution to Human Rights and the Culture of Peace received at UNESCO’s 60th anniversary celebrations; the International Award from India’s Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation for her contribution to promoting Gandhian values; and the 2010 Trip Transformers Award. Co-founder of the Palas Athena Association. Speaker and creator of numerous socio-educational programs in Brazil and abroad. She is the editor of more than 50 works by renowned authors, and the author and co-author of a dozen books, the most recent of which are: “Vamos Ubuntar? An Invitation to Cultivate Peace” (UNESCO) and “Culture of Peace – Networks of Coexistence” (SENAC). Coordinator of the Culture of Peace Committee, a partnership between Palas Athena and UNESCO. Director of Sarvodaya International Trust and member of the Board of Directors since January 2012. On February 21, 2020, he received the Padma Shri Award from the Government of India in recognition of his exceptional and outstanding service in the field of Social Work. The Padma Shri Awards is one of India’s highest civilian honors and seeks to recognize achievements in all fields of activities or disciplines in which a public service space is involved. Exceptionally, it is granted to non-Indian citizens.
